The EC expressed its "displeasure" with RJD leader Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray for breaching the model code of conduct, it expressed pain over the "intemperate and derogatory" statements at the national and state levels.

The commission, which also strictured BJP leader Jaswant Singh who had distributed money in his son's constituency, said that even important leaders were making "derogatory and inflamatory" statements.
