The election wing of UT administration on Saturday ordered police to confiscate the official vehicle (CH-01G-0023) of Chandigarh
Market Committees chairman and senior Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla.
The action was taken on the complaint of Satpal Gupta, state secretary of the BJP. He had complained to the election wing that Babla was misusing his official vehicle and had been using it for party work, which was against the model code of conduct. On the complaint on Gupta, election wing had asked for an explanation from Babla. A senior official said, “During the probe it came out that the councillor had intentionally taken his official vehicle to a Congress party press conference. He could not give any satisfactory reply and it amounts to violation of the election code of conduct.”
