A notice has been issued to BSP district president for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by holding caste-based public meetings here, official sources said on Saturday.

The notice was issued on the direction of the district Election Commission following a complaint that the leader held a series of caste-based meetings like Seni Samaj Sammelan, Bhahmin Samaj Sammelan and Perjapati Sammelan, in violation of poll code.

Dharam Singh Seni, a minister in the Mayabati-led government, had reportedly participated in one such meetings on March 4.
