CHENNAI: The Election Commission has taken a serious view of complaints from certain parts of the State on distribution of tokens, which can be ‘encashed’ later.
In a communication to District Election Officers, Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said complaints had been received about some political parties distributing tokens to women who performed ‘aarti’ on candidates/leaders. Some were distributing copies of manifesto and pamphlets, which had been assigned numbers.
