Aid agencies rethink personal data as new EU rules loom

Sweeping European privacy regulations are forcing the humanitarian sector to radically rethink how it handles data on tens of millions of people, interviews with experts and aid industry insiders reveal.   Aid agencies in Europe will have to change the way they fundraise at home and gather data abroad to comply with strict new EU data protection regulations that come into force in May.
